The following just touches upon a few of the notable events in this field worldwide during the past hundred and fifty years.

Information included but not limited to: birth and/or death dates and places of various teachers and artists and masters and other "shakers and movers," founding dates of clubs and organizations,
opening dates of first conventions and permanent collections, dates of issue for sets of bonsai/penjing postage stamps, dates of first publication for what would become influential magazines and books.

In short and with all modesty, a repository for the highlights of our interest's recent history.
Of course, not all significant events can -- or should -- be traced to one particular day.
Our trees have their own daily, monthly and seasonal cycles and rhythms.

Equally so are the ebbs and flows of the ideas, events and dreams of our propagation, design, display, organization, dissemination, and
other celebrations of the trees' lives and those of the humans connected with them.

This is being continually updated and each day, obviously, can have more than one noteworthy listing.
If you have suggestions, changes or additions, please email  rjb@magiminiland.org

Please note that at least one citation for each date is necessary for inclusion here.

Also to answer these questions:

Per www.bonsaisa.co.za/docs/wbfforigin.pdf, Itsuzo Okamura was a NBA board member in the 1987 WBFF Preparatory Committee.  Per our Bonsai Book of Days entry for Aug 27, Itsuzo Okamura of Ichiraku-en established the Japanese Suiseki Association, along with Keiji Murata of Koki-en and Toshiji Yoshimura of Kofu-en.  A recent entry for Jun 5 states that Nobutaka Sakuma (b.1951) served his apprenticeship during the early 1970s at the Ichi Raku-en garden of Kazuichi Kokubo.  Are these the same Ichiraku-en and, if so, what is the relationship of Okamura to Kokubo?
